The
General Assembly Scholarship Program is administered in accordance with the
provisions of Section 5/30-9 of the School Code of Illinois. Senator
Rutherford awards Illinois General Assembly Scholarships to students who
have been active in public and civic affairs and who have need of
scholarship assistance. The awards are applicable at the following Illinois
state universities.

Northern Illinois University
Western Illinois University
Eastern Illinois University
Governor State University
Southern Illinois University, Carbondale
Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville
Northeastern Illinois University
University of Illinois, Springfield
University of Illinois, Chicago
University of Illinois,
Urbana - Champaign
University of Illinois,
School of Medicine
Southern Illinois
University School of Medicine
Both graduate and undergraduate level study are acceptable. However,
all scholarships are for tuition only for one academic year.
QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Be a resident in the 53rd Senate District.
2.
Acceptance at the university of one's choice.
3.
Evidence of activity in public and civic affairs.
4.
Relative financial need among applicants.
5.
Two of the eight scholarships will have preference given to an active
reservist, current military person, veteran, or if the applicant's immediate
family member (spouse, parent, guardian, brother or sister) is in one of
these categories.

Senator Rutherford has established a Scholarship Advisory Committee
made up of educators from throughout the 53rd Senate District to review all
applications and select the scholarship recipients.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A student may receive a scholarship from Senator Dan
Rutherford only one time. They will not be eligible for future scholarships
from him, in order to provide others with the opportunity. There is no
limit on how many times an individual may apply, should they not receive one
of the scholarships this year.

Applications
must be received in the Senator's office by April 2, 2007 or
postmarked by March 30, 2007. Notification of scholarship awards
