Ronald
Reagan & Dan Rutherford
As a young man of 24 years old in 1980, Dan Rutherford joined on
the ground floor of a campaign that elected the President of the
United States of America. He worked hard, he achieved and he
advanced. After the GOP Primary, Dan assumed the lead role of
Executive Director for Ronald Reagan’s campaign in Illinois.

The results came in and Illinois went Reagan. Dan fielded press
calls from the Washington Post, Tokyo Times, London Telegraph and
Time Magazine reporters commented that he was the youngest State
Director in the Nation for either candidate for President. He
became a young rising star in Republican politics and
opportunities came.

The crossroads came and Dan chose Illinois. He did not look back
on his decision. He marveled as the world did, as President Reagan
made his mark on humanity.

And when the time came, Dan and millions
around the world watched quietly with their own thoughts of the
Great Communicator. But Dan reflected on his special time with him
before Air Force One and before Hail to the Chief. God Bless
America, the shining city on a hill.

During the Fall of 2006
Dan went to Dixon, Illinois where he delivered an address for the
Illinois GOP about working for Ronald Reagan. Afterwards, he
visited Reagan’s boyhood home which had not been designated a
National Historic site when Dan worked for him!
